What's New

In order to honor the birthplace of President Ronald Reagan, a group of citizens from the Village of Tampico, Illinois have sought to place a bronze statue of the former President in Reagan Park . This statue in the center of town will represent Reagan's childhood years in his birthplace of Tampico. The statue will consist of a young Ronald Reagan standing atop
a cannon -- a replica of the actual cannon on which the former President played as a child. See the "Proposed Design and Location" link for more details about the statue. This statue is the final piece of the Tampico Area Revitalization Project.

This project has been the dream of Lloyd and Amy McElhiney for many years. This selfless couple tirelessly staffed the Ronald Reagan Birthplace for many, many years -- seven days a week -- as volunteers.

Sadly, Lloyd passed away in September 2006 with the statue yet to be built. Amy donated all of Lloyd's memorial donations to the Tampico Reagan Statue Project, but we've only raised a fraction of the $50,000 required to complete the statue.

The goal is for the statue to be dedicated on President Reagan's 100th Birthday -- February 6, 2011. In order to meet this goal, we need to raise the needed funds very soon. Please help the citizens of Tampico honor the birthplace of President Ronald Reagan. Donations in any amount can help make Lloyd and Amy's dream a reality. Simply click the "Donate Now" button to contribute. Donations will be accepted through the Tampico Area Historical Society (TAHS) and are fully tax-deductible.

Thank you so much for your generosity.
